Meet Tsuki

Tsuki is the shop mascot of Polkadot Cute! Often sporting her long pastel, teal hair, in a loose braid that cascades like a waterfall of dreams. Completing her look, is her signature white usamimi style headband that resembles bunny ears. Her shiny gold star hair-clip is a nod to her name meaning “moon” in Japanese. She believes it adds a touch of subtle celestial magic to her presence.

About Polkadot Cute

Polkadot Cute is a small business from Maryland specializing in kawaii illustrative goods and gifts inspired by Animals and Japanese Kawaii Culture. Everything is designed by me, Jenn Resurreccion!

What makes Polkadot Cute unique is our policy of keeping majority of the crafting process in house which allows for more control over the process, what materials are selected and how everything is printed. I still outsource and collaborate with manufacturers for things I haven’t figured out how to do from home, but I like to take part as well. As an avid crafter, Having a role in the process allows me to really put love and attention to the small details in my work.

I started Polkadot Cute in 2011 with $20 in hand and a trip to the fabric store. At the time I was designing handmade bows for the Japanese Lolita Fashion Community. Soon I was shipping orders to Germany, Mexico and even Hawaii! I was so inspired I began to look into other things I could craft and finally decided on creating a shop with all kinds of goods, but even though I knew exactly what I wanted, I didn’t have the resources and time to dedicate to my brand. Life happened and I experienced burn out and depression. During 2020 Polkadot Cute took a indefinite hiatus. In that time I moved back home to Maryland, sorted out my mental health, waited out the pandemic, and decided on what Pcute’s future should be. In the end, I’m a designer and merchant in my heart and soul and Polkadot Cute is what has always made me happy.

I’m grateful for the time I had away to experience life, travel, heal my mental state and decide on the values of the brand. As I re-establish Pcute, I now have the time and resources I didn’t have before and I’m very excited to share my vision of kawaii with all of you wonderful Polkadot cuties!

About the artist Hello! My name is Jennifer Resurreccion and I’m the one woman show behind Pcute! I’m a Marylander with a love for animals, traveling, collecting small toys, The ocean, art, shopping, watching Anime and playing on my Nintendo Switch.

When I’m not working (I’m also currently a Barista!), I’m a Pokemaniac and enjoy playing Pokémon games, checking Pokémon news, enjoying Pokémon themed activities, walking with my Pokémon GO Buddy and adding to my raging Pokémon plush collection.

Why Japan?

I’ve always loved Japan, not just because of kawaii culture and the animation industry. I think Japanese design is so simple and functional, but the attention to detail and thought of how the customer will use the item is also considered. I enjoy Japanese motifs for their simple, peaceful, playful and colorful aura that makes me smile and I wanted to incorporate how Japan makes me feel and inspires my work in my brand.
